Green?

The title says the most common comment I received when I choose, with some help, to dye my hair a bright neon green with a darker underside.
Isn't it beautiful? There is much behind this "leap off of hair dying color cliff". But this is a short cliff notes type version. This year is my 10 year anniversary of my automobile accident. I wrote about that in deeper detail early on my blog: A Shattered Memory. One thing I have always wanted was green hair and I shared this fact with my two dear friends, Cody and Melanie. They were a huge encouragement to be who I wanted to be and to celebrate life the way I felt too.
It was a normal day, a play date planned for kids to have fun and us Moms to chat and craft. The day turned into a day of hair dying. The color green was placed before me and "let's do this" was said. My girlfriends, my heroes, threw me a "Green Hair dying party". It was so much fun!

I am so thankful for 10 years at this new life. I died twice on the side of the road and once in the emergency room, during my accident. I know, for how the car looked, I should not be here. But, by the grace of God, I am. And each and everyday, I look at my two toddlers and know, my 'job' was not done yet. I have much more 'life' ahead of me. Green to me represents the freshness and newness of spring and life. It is one of my favorite colors, but dying my hair green was a way I could cover three things: new life, favorite color, and my wish to be called 'Kelly Green' just a few times. Yes, it may have been a vain and superficial thing to do, but sometimes, that is the best way to celebrate. No matter what the 'world' around me may say.

If you could dye your hair any color, what color would it be?

Vacation 2013

So vacation happened for my little family. It is always fun. We travel up to see family in the summer generally around Little Miss' birthday. This year, we did the same but it was way more fun and relaxing.

Charles Duke Wellington III and Dorothy Green
We enjoyed time in the sun at the lake. It was a joy to see Little Miss and Little Mister enjoy the sand and water. As well as Auntie and Uncle, Grandma and Grandpa. They really enjoyed every aspect of the beach.

We enjoyed time in the pool at Grandpa's and Grandma's. And we enjoyed playing in the yard. Little Miss and Little Mister enjoyed Papa's wagon most of all.

And they enjoyed the bonfire we had. For being little, they listened well. And stayed back from the hot fire. Rabbit (Daddy) helped Little Miss roast her first marshmallow with Papa looking on. The men built a small little fire just for marshmallow roasting. Safety first! Dorothy had fun at her first fire too. She, too, roasted her own marshmallow. And we all enjoyed the company of family.

The trip was climaxed with a huge birthday bash for both kids. Though only Little Miss is born in July, we included both. It was a blessed time of food, friends, and family. It was so nice to touch base again with family we had not seen for a time.

Lion and Monkey came to play

Now there were so many photos of the bash...I just could share them all...how boring that would be. These are my favorites of the lot. It was a glorious time and such fun for the kids.

AND as each good story says...
THE END! ☺

1st Birthday Balloon Party

I just hosted my very first birthday party!!! I mean, really, no help from my Mom, no input from my Mom, no help from my husband. It was all me! And it came together perfectly! *Pat Pat Pat* I am so proud of me!

My son Daniel (Danny) just turned a year old! WOW! Time really does fly! He is a blessing. We started with chatter and then moved onto cake. He liked the frosting-mushing. He really didn't eat the cake. But he enjoyed the mess anyway. He received some wonderful presents, toys and clothes alike. It was a good time of friends and family.

Received a Wisconsin Badger hat from MumMum & Papa
Pair of sun glasses to match the hat

Daddy enjoying Danny
the decorations
wondering what was going on

yawning...after his nap

playing with a huge balloon
playing with friends

playing with sister

"Nah that balloon is gonna miss me"

We all enjoyed playing with the balloons. The wonder in his face as they floated and fell was priceless.
I put the plate in front of him on his tray...and he looked at the cake like "what is that?" It was very funny.

I mush this Momma...I mush it really good...

Penelope enjoying her cupcake and ice cream. She did a good job through the whole party. She knew it was Danny's special day. She truly is becoming a good 'big sister'.
Our friend, Abigail enjoyed her cupcake, ice cream, and snacks.
Our friend Lilly, enjoyed the noise, balloons, and different toys.
Douglas enjoyed Dennis. He just grin and chuckled the whole time was visiting.
Just a little chocolate Mom...you know how to get chocolate out of fabrics right?
